I have some sad news today. Well, technically Sam has some sad news today. This will be her final week as co-host of the hop. Unfortunately life is too fucking crazy for her right now and the hop has become a stressor. And when your blog becomes a stressor, something's gotta go. I'm so sad to lose her but she'll still be around - right here - and I'm still going to make her be my friend. Especially now since we live on the same side of the continent. Heart you Sam, xoxoxo.
...so starting next week, this will no longer be the Wednesday Fresh Foods Blog Hop, but rather The Wednesday Fresh Foods Link Up. Close.
Exciting stuff though: I've discovered a very similar link up party that I HAVE to share with you! Heather at InHerChucks is kind of super awesome and I adore how she embraces life, food, music, family, and her sneakers. Her link up party is called What's In The Box? - if you like what you see here, swing over there and join up too. Because you can't ever have too many people at a par-tay! (that may not be entirely true ;)).
And lastly, I suck. I fucking suck. I'm so sorry. This move has been more hectic than I ever thought it could be. Especially considering there is still no word when our shit is going to arrive from Victoria. Yes, we're still sleeping on MEC camping gear. Still cooking in 2 pots, thanks to our very gracious landlord (holy pasta, rice, and salads batman!). Still getting on the wrong subway cars because I have no bloody idea where I'm going and no sense of direction what so ever. The point of all this? ...
....I still haven't had a chance to comment on any of your posts from the past 2 weeks. I had planned to do it this past weekend but I fell dreadfully ill thanks to this drug (for nerve pain, not seizures) and all it's handy dandy side effects - yup. I got em all. Violently. And this week I've started a new job. So while I try to recover from uncontrollable confusion, vomiting and unsteadiness, new job stress and the accompanying nightly work-mares, and general frustration of sitting on a cold tile floor....I beg of you to please be patient with me. Don't let my crappiness keep you from linking up. Know I am reading all your posts and that this weekend I'll try to be a better host. I am very, very sorry I haven't been able to be more active these past two weeks. Next week I'll even try to share my own food finds. I guess a cross Canada move IS kind of a big deal.
Important (but super fun and exciting and vunderful...yes, with a "v") stuff:
This blog hop is to encourage fresh food production, consumption,
activism, and awareness.
Please feel free to link up posts containing:
- CSA collections;
- Farmer's market treasures;
- Home grown/raised hauls;
- Recipes that feature fresh fruits and veggies that are seasonal to your area or feature local, sustainably farmed meats, eggs, and dairy;
- DIY projects and tutorials for: gardening, storing and/or preserving fresh, real foods, composting market scraps, raising chickens in your back yard, etc;
- Tips for local eating such as: tips for CSA members, how to find out what’s in season, how to make the most of your local produce, how to raise chickens, etc...
You may link up to 3 posts in a given week that you haven't shared here before by using the linky tool at the bottom of this post. Feel free to click on any of the linked up posts and say hello by leaving a comment for your fellow fresh food communitarians and/or leave one here to tell us what you've shared - because we know how much we all love comments!
If you don't have a blog but would still like to contribute to the link up, throw me an email and we'll work something out.
And lastly, please include a simple text link back to this
blog hop (the post, not the blog's main page) in the post(s) you link up or add a button:

I want this blog hop to feature you as well as help each other
come together to form a resource of good food ways for one another.
In order to be featured on the weekly highlights - which includes a
highlight on your post here the following week as well as tweets, facebook page "like" and posting, and being added to the Fresh Foods pinterest board - you
must have a text
link back or button displayed in your post or on your blog. Again, I
don’t want to be the “blog hop police”, but if you don’t link
back to this post I can’t feature you.
For the last time, you can alternatively link up via Sam's blog @ Cooking My Way Through My CSA, as well as find her on her Pinterest site.
And of course, you can link up here, become my friend by joining this site on the right side bar, and/or find me on twitter, facebook, Pinterest, and my sister site, Taste Buds.
If you have any questions about the blog hop in general, please email me at freshfoodsbloghop (at) gmail (dot) com.
Okay serious business over - let's have some fun! Link up!

Moving is rough. We're in the middle of one too and it is just really hard. You've always been a great hostess and I think everyone will forgive you not being able to drop in and comment. I hope you get to feeling better and settled in soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting! (And you don't suck. Moving sucks. You don't.) :)
ReplyDeleteToday I'v linked up a yummy grain free cake.
http://thankyourbody.com/recipe-grain-free-birthday-cake/
That's awful that you've been feeling so ill. Moving is extremely stressful. I've moved every year for the last 14 years and it's nice to finally stop. Honestly don't worry about not commenting on blogs, it's hard work trying to work, move and still manage a blog!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am Amber and the potato salad above is my first post, I hope you enjoy it:-) My mum writes for Natural Mothers Network.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. And you don't suck. I have done one link party once and it is a lot of work. Throw in moving, a new job and a new city and somethings gotta give.
ReplyDeleteNo apologizes needed don't stress too about the blog. You do what you can do... exhale.
ReplyDeleteHa!! Love your blog. I stumbled across it because you left a comment at Riddlelove.com about your Wednesday linky!! This is my first time sharing, and I quite love the recipe I am bragging about here: it's nothing fancy, in fact it may be the stuff that peasants are made of, however I love it greatly and could eat quite a bit of it and in fact do. Beets, potatoes, turnips, and any miscellaneous vegetables you have left in the fridge all go in this pot! http://dotalanecdotes.blogspot.com/2012/07/purple-food.html
ReplyDeleteWow, quite the time you've been having! Hope it all calms down soon for you. I have linked up 3 posts this time around, 2 of them from last year but hey, what can you do? So I give you Sweet & Crunchy Beetroot Salad, Thai Basil Pesto and Indian Spiced Chard, and Roasted Chicken Breast with Lemony Bombay Potatoes! :)
ReplyDeleteI've instantly fallen hard for this blog, and send you many healing thoughts from down here in Seattle. I hope hosting and keeping a blog helps as a stress reducer and isn't another source of stress.
ReplyDeleteI am sharing my recipe for "buttercream" made with goat cheese and honey. It's my favorite comfort food. http://severalgardens.blogspot.com/2012/09/better-than-buttercream.html
Goodness . . . you have a lot of crap happening right now. I hope things settle down for you soon. I'm sure no one is going to have a cow if you don't read their posts . . . life happens and our blogs suffer at times. I get stressed often and have to remind myself to breathe. Just breathe, chica. :)
ReplyDeleteI posted three this week: pt two in our water series, and two recipes: Mung Bean Stew and Pork Menudo.
Have a great week.
I just discovered your blog through the CSA linkup over at In Her Chucks. I think what you're doing is great, and I think I'm gonna like it here. :) Sorry to hear about the troubles you've been going through, I hope things turn around for you soon.
ReplyDeleteI think you're extremely gracious to be so conscientious about commenting on everyone's posts. I have a chronic illness and when I'm in a hard period one of the first things to go is blog commenting (quickly followed by blog posting, usually). One of the things I love about the blog world is it's easy to disappear for a little while and come back and pick up with blog friends and blog community like no time has passed.
I love that you swear, here, too. I always feel a happy kinship with bloggers who aren't afraid to say fuck when fuck is what's called for. :)
Can't wait to see what's next in the world of Gastronomical Sovereignty!
thank you everyone - you are all so amazing to me :)
ReplyDeleteto everyone who is old: it's nice to see you again.
to everyone who is new: i hope you'll stick around :)
thanks for sharing.
